Carroll Dewees' Obituary
Carroll Dewees, 79, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away on June 25, 2018, following a prolonged illness.Carroll was born May 14, 1939, the ninth of eleven children of Lawrence and Jessie Dewees. He graduated from Rensselner High School and went on to serve in the United State Marine Corps.Carroll married Alice (Baldwin) on March 24, 1979. Soon after they set up house in Broken Arrow and lived there together for 39 years. He worked as a meat cutter for 55 years, most recently at Honover’s Meat Market and Hodges Meats of Tulsa.He retired at age 62 and spent the last part of his life following his lifelong hobbies of hunting, fishing, golfing, camping and traveling. His greatest joy was to spend time with family and friends in pursuit of the biggest fish, the greatest buck, the lowest golf score, and seeing the wonders of the United States from the front door of his beloved fifth wheel.Carroll is survived by his wife, Alice; a brother Richard of Lebanon, Indiana, and a sister Linda (Kindig) of Kentland, Indiana; two children, Danny of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Julie (Whetstine) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Ben and Rory; and nieces and nephews too numerous to name. All were the love of his life. He basked in the glory of their accomplishments as they grew and moved through their lives. Carroll was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lawrence and Jessie Dewees; three brothers Melvin, Windfield, and Leonard; and five sisters Betty, Shirley, Annie, Rheatha, and Connie. All lived in Indiana and had wonderful loving families.A memorial service to celebrate Carroll’s life will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel (6500 S. 129th E. Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at 10:00 AM on July 10, 2018.
