Casimer Joseph Plonczynski's Obituary
Casimer J. Plonczynski, Age 91, of Claremore, OK, formerly of Calumet City, IL and Chicago, IL. Husband of the late Alfrieda “Fritzi” (Pinski) Plonczynski, Father of Charles (Mary Lu) of Channahon, IL; James (Donna) of Geneva, IL, John F. of OK; Robert (Julie) of OK and David of Woodstock, IL. Grandfather of Katrina Plonczynski (Tim Lloyd), Nicholas (Tina) Plonczynski, Elizabeth (Randall) Abraham, and Ali, Max, Caz, Olivia and Gavin Plonczynski. Long-Time friend of Mary Ann McDonald. Fond brother of Gerald (Francine) Plonczynski, the late Dolores (late George) Ostrowski, Mary Ann (Richard) Jingling and the late Elizabeth. Fond brother-in-law of Claire Zenow and the late Sr. Corfilia SSOJ- TOSF and the late Henry Pinski. Son of the late Victoria (Zabicki) and late John F. Plonczynski. Casimer proudly served our country in the Pacific Theatre WWII Navy from June 1943- July 1946 on the U.S.S. Suwannee and U.S.S Antietam. He participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf and survived two Kamikaze attacks on the U.S.S. Suwannee. Casimer retired from Republic Steel where was an Electrician and Supervisor. He could troubleshoot and fix anything mechanical, and worked after retirement at Olympia Fields Country Club. In his rare spare time, he enjoyed playing cards with the Supervisor’s Club at Steve’s Lounge in Hegewisch. He and Fritzi were proud to graduate five sons from college and aeronautic school. Casimer spent his final years enjoying the Oklahoma heat and the company of family and neighbors. He loved to joke around and laugh with his kids and grandkids. He will be remembered for his kind heart and smile. Thanks to the VA and Safe Home Care for their attention to his medical needs, to his caregiver Karen Brown, Season’s Hospice and special recognition to John, Rob, Julie and Olivia Plonczynski for their loving care and dedication to his needs. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army @ http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/ or to St. Jude’s Hospital @ https://www.stjude.org/There will be a wake October 3, 2016 from 9-10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Lansing , Illinois Mass of the Christian Burial will be October 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Lansing, Illinois Graveside committal will be October 3, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, Illinois
