Catherine Elizabeth Hubbard's Obituary
Catherine Elizabeth Hubbard (Cathy), 40, passed from this life on June 29, 2022, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Cathy was born July 21, 1981, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Curtis and Debra Beard of Claremore, Oklahoma. Cathy grew up in Bixby and Broken Arrow and graduated from Union High School in 1999. She loved to dance and was a part of the Union High School Drill Team during her years there. Cathy knew what she wanted and eloped to Eureka Springs, Arkansas to marry her one true love, Ricky, on September 21, 2002. They were both 21 and over the last 20 years, never left each other's side.
Cathy attended Tri-County Tech, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, achieving her dream of becoming a nurse, graduating in 2010. Cathy worked as a nurse in a host of specialties over the years. Her favorite practice areas were cosmetic surgery, end-of-life care, and neonatal care. She was a credit to her profession and one of the most knowledgeable and caring nurses to ever serve.
Cathy had a passion for helping abandoned animals, often volunteering at no-kill shelters and bringing animals home against her husband’s wishes. When she wasn't saving homeless dogs and cats, she was exploring the world with her husband. Throughout the years they traveled to Europe, Canada, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, and many Caribbean islands. Cathy's favorite places were Florence, Rome, Venice, Italy, London, England, Turks and Caicos, and any other tropical paradise she could get to on a cruise ship. She loved to search out new restaurants and foods, experiencing different culinary delicacies all over the world but still demanded microwaveable macaroni and cheese.
When she wasn't traveling the world, she was searching out and making up her own recipes for her family. She loved to cook and she loved her kitchen. Her meals were always fantastic. Above all of this, Cathy loved everything Disney and her furbaby, Hector the truck dog. Hector kept watch over her when Daddy was away and stuck by her side always. Wherever one was, the other wasn't far behind. Cathy loved him fiercely and unconditionally. Hector was her "baby," and the joy she got from him spread throughout the room. When it came to things "Disney," she collected every movie, figurine, or toy she could and was blessed to have visited the parks in Florida multiple times as a child with her family and once with her husband.
Cathy lit up every room she entered and was loved by all that met her. She had the type of personality we all long for. She was kind, compassionate, understanding, and forgiving. She is the heart and soul of her husband and though she was capable of taking care of herself, she always knew he watched over her. Now she watches over us.
Unfortunately, throughout her life, Cathy battled diabetes and the complications that came with it. She was a fighter, the strongest among us. Through it all, she accomplished more than most do with long lives. She fought to the very end.
Cathy is survived by her one true love, her husband Richard E. Hubbard III, and their fur baby Hector the truck dog (the light of her life and stealer of blankets) of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; her parents Curtis and Debra Beard of Claremore, Oklahoma; her sister, Jennifer Beard and nephews Blaise and Jax of Edmond, Oklahoma; “adopted” sister Heather Hensley and “second hubby” Jason Hensley of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and numerous extended aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cathy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Walter and Dolores Boyd; great grandmother Era Faye Harrell; her paternal grandparents Vedah Rodebush, Clarence and Ruth Beard.
All are invited to Floral Haven Funeral Chapel at 6500 S. 129th E. Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012 for visitation Wednesday July 6, 2022 between the hours of 5pm and 7pm. You are also invited to attend the service to lay Cathy to rest on Thursday July 7, 2022 at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, please donate, in her name, to a local animal rescue. She loved flowers, but she loved animals more. The world is indeed a darker place without her in it.
