Cecil Fredrick Ketchum's Obituary
Cecil Fredrick Ketchum, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 84.
Born on November 29, 1940, in Tulsa, Cecil was the cherished son of Kenneth Fredrick Ketchum and Violet Olive Wright Ketchum. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and married the love of his life, Wanda Lois Taylor, on January 7, 1966, in Muskogee County, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and service.
Cecil worked as a security guard and later as a crane operator for Oklahoma Steel, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he found joy in the great outdoors—hunting, fishing, and traveling to see the sights. He was a skilled handyman who could fix just about anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
A man of deep faith, Cecil was an active member of Good News Church in Tulsa, where he served his community with compassion and humility. He had a special place in his heart for children, especially his nieces, whom he loved to spoil and let get away with all sorts of mischief.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Wanda Lois Ketchum; his two sons, Russell Shawn Ketchum and his wife Veronica, and Shane Fredrick Ketchum; his beloved granddaughter, Alexis Ann Ketchum; cousins Ryan Courley and Doug Goodsell; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family who will miss his warmth, humor, and generous spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A funeral service with military honors will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Floral Haven Rose Chapel, followed by burial at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
Cecil’s legacy of kindness, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
