Cecil Roy Thornbrugh's Obituary
We gather to celebrate the epic life of Cecil Thornbrugh, a true cowboy at heart who lived life his own way.
On January 30th, 2025, Cecil peacefully passed away at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, doing what his loves most watching westerns, taking naps, and drinking captain of course. His legacy of living boldly and embracing each day will live on in all who knew him. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.
Cecil was born on December 27th, 1947, in small town Coweta, Oklahoma to Leafy and Clement. Cecil grew up with 7 siblings, and embraced every moment of his life with adventure, joy, and passion.
For three decades, Cecil dedicated his craftsmanship as a CNC Machinist at Baker Hughes and ended up retiring around 2010. His commitment and hard work left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside him.
Cecil also had his hand in a few bar ventures, just to name a few; The depot, The Jack of Clubs, and most know to us all, Cecil and Chips. Where you could always find him in his spot, at the big round table in the corner.
Cecil was an avid sports enthusiast, his love for the Dallas Cowboys was well-known among family and friends. His spirited cheers and unwavering support created joyful memories that will be cherished forever.
More than anything Cecil was a family man and treasured his family deeply. He was a loving father to his son, Channon Thornbrugh, a proud grandfather to Chace, Camron, Caitlyn and Granger and great grandfather to Cory, Cade, and Ella. His laughter and stories will continue to inspire them.
He shared a special bond with his siblings, celebrating life’s journey alongside Wayne, Edna Thornbrugh Ellis, and remembering those who passed before him: Joe, Charlie, Emily, Diana, and Charlotte. Cecil now reunites with his beloved wife, Burnett, and his parents, Leafy and Clement Thornbrugh.
Although no one can ever replace the love and friendship that Cecil brought to everyone’s lives the memories we shared will last a lifetime and live on in all who knew him.
