Charlene Marie Gray's Obituary
Charlene Marie Gray, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 23, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on June 14, 1935, in West Hickory, Pennsylvania, to the late Charles C and Esther M (Wolfe) Carll. Charlene's vibrant spirit touched the lives of many, and her memory will forever be cherished.
Charlene graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1953. On January 31, 1954, she married the love of her life, Sherman Floyd Gray, and they enjoyed nearly six decades of marriage until his passing in 2013. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories.
Charlene dedicated 38 years of her career to the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where she worked diligently until her retirement. Her strong work ethic and commitment were admired by her colleagues.
In her free time, Charlene pursued her passion for scrapbooking and enjoyed her time with her family and friends. She delighted in preserving cherished moments through the art of scrapbooking, creating beautiful keepsakes for her family to treasure. Additionally, she found joy in following various sports and cheering on her favorite teams.
Charlene leaves behind a loving legacy through her daughters, Christi Neal and her husband Curtis "Cletis", and Gayln Zajic and her husband Andy. Her granddaughters, Karen Norris, Cathy Border, Sara Henson, and Andrea Framel were a source of pride and joy in her life. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Baileigh Kelley, Taylor Border, Jordan Border, Lucas Framel, Nathan Framel, and Weston Framel, as well as a great-great-granddaughter, Ashe Kelley. Charlene's family brought her immeasurable happiness, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
In addition to her family, Charlene is survived by several nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends. Her warm and compassionate nature endeared her to many, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Esther Carll, and infant brother, Millard Carll; brother, Howard Reib; brother Delbert Carll; sister, Velma Osborne; and great-granddaughter, Becca Conaway.
Visitation to honor Charlene's memory will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, May 29th, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 30th, at Christ United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Following the service, a committal ceremony will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, May 30th, at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
