Charles Wayne Austin's Obituary
Charles “Wayne” Austin, a resident of Sand Springs, passed away August 4, 2019 at the age of 82. He was born July 8, 1937 to Charley G. Austin and Wilma (Hartley) Austin in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.He grew up in a time and place where he was surrounded by Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins he loved. These were days where he did not have a care in the world and enjoyed every single day. Wayne graduated from Locust Grove High School in 1955. On Christmas Eve 1957, he married Ollie Callison of Pryor and started a long career as a truck driver, together they had four children. This marriage lasted till all four kids were adults.After many years on the road Wayne went to work for Loomis Armored as an armed guard. One of his daily stops was the PSO office in Sand Springs where he met Jewel Whittington, she worked as a customer service representative and he picked up the daily deposit from her. It was not long till he knew he had met the love of his life. Wayne and Jewel were married on October 23, 1993. They enjoyed 25 happy years until she passed February 18th 2019.Wayne is survived by family who loved him, which includes sisters Janelle and husband Johnson Ross and Betty Breedlove. Also children Dee Ann McHenry; Dub and Teresea Austin; Keith and Pam Austin; Alan and Shelli Austin. Along with Jewel’s Children, Lonnie and Nancy Whittington; Ken and Rita Whittington; and Sheila and Craig Mercy.Grandchildren: Eric Austin, Jessica and Jeremy Samaroo , Stephanie and Patrick Page, Matt and Kaitlin Austin, Jacob McHenry, Alyssa and Max Hamilton, A.J. Austin and Alex Austin. Also Traci and Aaron Fieker, Brook and Chance Greer, Brad Whittington, Brittany and Derec Norman, Kendrick Whittington, Meaghan Mercy, and Zachary Mercy.Great grand-children: Candace Austin, Jayden Austin, Reid Samaroo, Lillian Page, Tate Samaroo, and Hendrix Austin. Also Tate, Beau and Madelyn Greer, Ethan and Bella Whittington, Claire, Olivia and Eli Fieker, Liam and Lexi Norman,Come and go visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 9, 2019 at Verdigris United Methodist Church, 8936 E 530 Rd, Claremore OK.Burial will be at 2:00 pm Friday, August 9, 2019 at Hogan Cemetery in his hometown of Locust Grove.
