Charles F. Stroup's Obituary
Charles Frederick Stroup was born October 10, 1929 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to the late William and Capitola Stroup. He is the youngest of five children. Charles attended school in Wetumka, Oklahoma, Holdenville, Oklahoma and Chandler, Arizona, where he graduated high school. Charles later attended Okmulgee Tech School. He has been a member of the First Christian Church since youth. Charles married Geneva Paullus, May 27 at Okmulgee, Oklahoma. After completing Tech School, he began a career as a Supervisor in the A.S.G. Glass Plant in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, then at the Ford Glass Company, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He retired in 1991 after serving 30 years. After retirement, Charles was involved in church, golf and social activities in Broken Arrow. Charles was also involved in the Masons, Elks and V.F.W. One of the most meaningful events was being the youngest Grand worshipful Master in Okmulgee for the Mason. He also loved working with the youth of the church and serving other. His hobbies included bridge, golf, fishing, and hunting, attending family reunions and weekends at the lake. Charles was also a proud veteran, serving in the Army from 1848-1952 during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Corporal. In addition his parents, Charles was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Stroup, Frances Stroup, Frieda Woods and brothers William Stroup and Elmer Stroup. Charles is survived by his wife, Geneva, Son, David Lee and wife, Gail, grandchildren, David Charles and Chenoa, great grandchildren, Kalista, Kaitlyn and David Blaine, Nephews and Nieces, Neal Woods, Jane Barok, Kay Griffin and Virginia Minton and numerous friends. Funeral Services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment, Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Visitation will be 12-8 Tuesday, October 13, 2015; Family will receive friends from 4pm to 6pm.
