Charles Ray Goad's Obituary
Charles was born to Sherman Creal Goad and Betha Nettie Goad on April 27th, 1941, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. He attended Central High School, graduating in in 1960. In 7th grade, Charles began working part-time at Feed Store in Turley. He worked through his Senior Year in high school. He married Thelma Louise Wood on June 18th, of 1960. They just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.Charles attended Tulsa Community College for heating and air conditioning. Worked for Tulsa Public Schools, in the maintenance department for 11 ½ years. He retired from Baker Hughes, in 1999, after nearly 20 years of service. Charles worked several part time jobs.Charles enjoyed woodworking, model trains, collecting ceramic Christmas houses, traveling, LOVED listening to music but could not carry a tune. He enjoyed country, classical, and Spanish, Irish, bluegrass, and gospel bluegrass music. He loved and always enjoyed Silver Dollar City, and the many festivals at Silver Dollar City.Charles was a big hugger. Big bear hugs. His favorite comic strip was Pickles. He got a good laugh every morning reading Pickles. After retiring, he enjoyed having coffee in the mornings and read the paper.He enjoyed square dancing, for a few years, but had no rhythm. Square Dancing people are always good to lead you where you need to go and move.Charles enjoyed traveling through the Western Loop, traveling 7,000 miles in two weeks; Niagra Falls, Northern loop, including the northeastern states and Canada. Oregon and West Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, Disneyland, Disney World with the grandkids, and Carnival Cruises.Throughout his brief illness, Charles had a “let’s do this”, “let’s beat this” attitude. He was always gracious and thoughtful; getting the names of his care givers and thanking them for taking care of him.The family is extremely appreciative for the outpouring of support, thoughts, prayers, well wishes and visits.Preceded in death by his parents Sherman Creal Goad and Betha Nettie Begley Goad; Brother Joe Goad; son Raymond Roy Goad; and grandchildren Jennifer Thompson, and Tommy Thompson Jr., and great-grand child Christina Thompson. Survived by: His wife, Thelma Louise Wood Goad of the home. His daughter Charlene Manns, and husband Sonny of Tulsa Daughter, Christina Lively, and husband Steve of Dewey Son David Goad, and wife Jennifer of Tulsa. Grandchildren Christopher Thompson and wife Amanda of Tulsa; Tammy Johannesen and husband Jeremy of Tulsa, Phillip Futischa and wife Maggie of Ada, and Noah Opela of Dewey. Great grand children Shaun, Matthew, Anna, Joshua Benjamin, Rylen, and Caleb. Brother – Tom Goad & Wife Jeannie of Broken Arrow Sister – Nancy Dirks and husband Wayne of Tulsa Sister – Doris Arterburn and husband Jim of Tulsa Brother – Roger Goad and wife Kelly of Sand Springs 1 Uncle Edsel Goad of Tulsa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Saturday, June 27th, Floral Haven Funeral Home.Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 27th, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
