Charles Granvil Henderson's Obituary
Charles Granvil Henderson, 78, went home to be with the Lord April 26, 2012, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Charles was born November 16, 1933 in Haywood, OK. His parents were the late Clarence Granvil Henderson and Nancy Elizabeth (Bessie) Roberts Henderson. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his daughter Sherrie, his grandchildren Daniel and Andrea Walker. He was the oldest of five. Still surviving are his sisters Minnie Ruth Young and Elizabeth Mae Beck; predeceased are his brothers Harold Adolphus Henderson and Clarence Joseph Henderson. He has many nieces and nephews and cousins; and their close friends Charles and Carolyn referred to their '#2 daughter' Georgine Rusmussen. Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1950 ' 1953 during the Korean War where he was honorably discharged. He was a longtime employee of Hale Halsell Company, where he retired after 43 years. He was married to Carolyn Ann Long for 55 years at the time of his passing. He loved his wife and children and wanted them close to his side as much as possible. Next to his family, his greatest interests included hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He enjoyed spending casual time at the Bass Pro Shop, planning his next big sporting adventure. He and his wife attend Haikey Park Baptist Church, where he attended regularly until he became ill. Services are at Floral Haven Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. Charles was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
