Charles Lonergan's Obituary
Charles Lonergan of Owasso, OK departed this earth on October 14th, 2018. He was a hardworking man from day one. (Some might say he worked the hardest at being ornery.) As a young man, he excelled at school and played saxophone in the band, which led to his scholarship to college. Charles earned 2 bachelor’s degrees and an associate’s degree.Charles met the love of his life, Cindy, at church in 1966. They married on August 10, 1968. Do to his illness, they did not have a big celebration, but did achieve a happy marriage for more than 50 years. Along the way, they raised 3 boys, were active in their church, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.Charles ran a store, sold houses, was director of an X-ray school, worked at Ford Glass, (where has known as “Charlie Tuna” or more commonly Tuna,) he was also the director of security at Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Many of those jobs he held at the same time. He worked a lot, but never missed a soccer game, wrestling tournament, football game, or choir concert. The Dallas Cowboys and the Sooners broke his heart sometimes, but he never stopped cheering.Charles never won the lottery, but he liked to think about it. People that knew him felt they won the friendship lottery. He was quick with a joke, a favor, a helping hand, and a mischievous grin. Charles’ life belonged to the Lord and that is the way he lived. For God and for his family and loved ones.Charles was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita Lonergan and his brother Dwight Edwin Lonergan. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Lonergan, son Brett and his wife Heather Lonergan, son Travis and his husband Ehren Lonergan, son Darrell and his wife Meredith Lonergan, brother Jimmy, and his wife Phyllis Lonergan, and his granddaughter Anna Lonergan. Services will be held at the Catoosa Church of Christ, 617 S Cherokee St, Catoosa, OK 74015, at 1PM on October 19th.
