He married the love of his life, Gladys (Allen) Trombley, on January 27, 1951. Together they had four children.Chuck and Gladys began serving the Lord, Jesus Christ, soon after the miraculous healing of their oldest daughter in 1954. Charles loved to study the Bible and he was voracious reader of biblical studies. In 1957, he was ordained by the Assemblies of God to minister. He earned a degree in Theology, a master’s degree in Biblical Literature and he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree. His first published book, “Kicked out of the Kingdom”, relates the specifics of that miraculous healing, being expelled from the Jehovah’s Witness movement and the beginnings of a storied career of preaching, pastoring, teaching, writing and mentoring others in the full gospel of Jesus Christ. Charles published seven books and his articles have appeared in leading periodicals. In 1976 he began publishing a teaching newsletter, Rhema SWORD of the spirit that continues today. He built and pastored his first church in Bellows Falls, Vermont in 1956. He was instrumental in developing churches in Iowa, Florida and Oklahoma. He founded Charles Trombley Ministries in 1972. Charles worked side by side with Gladys , his wife, for many years to facilitate a worldwide ministry. Through evangelistic crusades he spoke to churches around the world. He spoke at over 1,000 Full Gospel Businessmen fellowship meetings and was a pioneer in the Charismatic full-gospel movement. The ministry established a missions’ office in Africa, established a cassette Bible teaching Institute and established many churches in Malawi. In 1994 an orphanage was started in Malawi, Africa. In 1996, two years later, land was leased and the current Victory Christian Children’s Home was established. Hundreds of children and surrounding villages have been impacted by the orphanage, school and church.Charles was the Director of Victory Bible Institute in 1989 and a member of Victory Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a member of the World Ministry Fellowship, until his death. One young pastor and close friend said that early in 1969 Chuck took him under his wing and mentored him during the challenges of his Christian journey. He said the term “Christian” in his view was somewhat diluted in our culture, so let me say that Charles and Gladys Trombley were followers of Jesus. He lived the scriptures in word and in deed, lived a holy life, separated from the world, modest in demeanor, honest in commerce, direct in communication and gentle in spirit. Chuck was an unabashed follower of Jesus in every way.Charles spent his life traveling the world, sharing God’s word and he was passionate about developing the next generation of leaders.
