Charlotte Sloan Tuton's Obituary
Charlotte Sloan Tuton died peacefully on May 2, 2021, holding her grandson’s hand as he sang “I’ll Fly Away” and surrounded by the love of her family and friends.
Born in Tulsa on March 8, 1928, Charlotte married the love of her life, George Tuton, on November 7, 1949. They soon moved to Decatur, Illinois, where they raised their three children, Jana, Terry and Judy. Charlotte was a devoted mother, loyal friend, and compassionate volunteer who was loved by all who knew her.
Charlotte and George retired to Tulsa in 1994. In retirement, Charlotte’s intellectual curiosity combined with her genuine interest in people led her to embrace the many changes which occurred in her lifetime. Her life exemplified the exhortation of the prophet Micah to “do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with your God”. Adored by her children and grandchildren, and cherished by her friends, all were inspired by her love and compassion.
Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, George and her son, Terry. She is survived by her daughters, Jana (Will) and Judy (Doug) and her grandchildren, Kate (Tyler) and Andrew, and great-granddaughter, Elliot.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Faith United Methodist Church in Tulsa.
