Chris was a really good guy! Our families lived two blocks from each other in Park Plaza East. His son, Peter, and my son, Charles, spent time together when I was a Cub Scout Den leader. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family
Chris will always have a place in my family's hearts. He was at my son's first Mom & Me, coffee cup in hand and smile on his face. As my wife and I coordinated a respective Dad & Lad and Mom & Me (or Mud & Me lol) he was one of our first choices for staff events. My son is almost at Eagle rank and we could not have been more proud to have Chris be a part of our journey. Thanks Chris for all that you did.Lyrics from the Kingston Trio song:Hoist up the John be's sails (John be's sails) See how the main sails set (main sails set) Call for the captain ashore Let me go home (Let me go home) Let me go home (I want to go home) I want to go home (Why don't you let me go home?) Well, I feel so break up I want to go home (I want to go home) [Kingston Trio – Sloop John B. Lyrics]We are going to miss you, but you are with us in spirit. Rest in peace.Matt, Angela & Marcus Miller
Lit a candle in memory of Christopher Joseph Van Straten
There are so many memories that we have shared both individually and as a couple with Chris. I have one that I will never forget. Everyone has mentioned Chris' talent at spinning yarns. One day when Chris was visiting us, our oldest daughter, Melissa, ask what kind of tree was in the front yard. We told her it was a Red Bud. She exclaimed it couldn't be called that because it was purple. At that point, Chris began spinning a tale about the Indians not knowing their colors and the explanation became quite a story!! We don't remember the details, but Melissa bought it hook, line, and sinker!! Loved it when he spun yarns!!
Anna and I send our sympathy. We will always have good memories of our days at Cities Service. Charles Stall
