Clarence "Sandy" Baker's Obituary
It is with great sadness and grief that we announce the passing of Clarence Sanders
Baker (Sandy). He left this world peacefully on Sunday, June 7th surrounded by family.
Sandy was born in 1944 on the 6th of October to Sam and Josephine Baker.
He graduated from Salina High School and served for four years in the Air Force as a 'minute man' in a ballistic missile silo during the cold war. After completion of his duty to Uncle Sam, he attended the University of Oklahoma and began working towards a degree in engineering. While there, he found his true calling working for the OU campus police. He left OU and graduated from the Tulsa Police Academy, going on to serve as one of Tulsa's finest for 27 years, 5 months and 25 days. While serving, he worked as a patrol man, detective in the forgery division, and eventually a field supervisor, retiring at the rank of corporal. He earned many awards and citations, including the Patrol Excellence Award and TPD's Medal of Valor. Sandy also worked at Saint Francis Hospital as a security officer for 37 years, where he made many friends and met his wife, Connie. They were married on July 29 in 1995 and celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last year.
Sandy is preceded in death by both parents, his brother Walt, and his stepdaughter Missy. He leaves behind his widow, Connie Baker, son Mark Baker, daughter Tracey Baker, stepson TC Burns, stepdaughter Lisa Garland, stepson Robert Garland, fifteen grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
