Clarence F. "Coach" Ehlers' Obituary
Ehlers, Clarence F. (Coach), 85, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005. Clarence was born on March 25, 1919 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, W.M. and Ada Marie Ehlers. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nadine;sister Bertha Ryan of Tulsa, OK;daughter Ann Hammond of Tulsa, OK and son, Roger Ehlers of Sand Springs, OK; 3 grandchildren, Brad Hammond and Paige McMurray of Tulsa, OK and Traci Stout of Sand Springs, OK; and 7 great grandchildren. Clarence was a graduate of The University of Tulsa, a former member of the TU basketball team and a veteran of WWII. Clarence ws the basketball coach at Central High School for 15 years; and also served as the school’s dean of boys. He retired from Tulsa Public Schools in 1979. Coach was an avid fisherman, an excellent craftsman and a loyal fan of all sports, especially TU basketball. Coach will be missed by many, especially those hundreds of students whom he had the opportunity to coach and teach. A graveside service will be held at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Coach Ehlers Scholarship Fund at the University of Tulsa, C/O Office of Development, 600 South College Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74104.
