Clarence Fred Fleischner's Obituary
FLEISCHNER – Clarence Fred “Flash,” 94, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died Saturday, November 15, 2014. Born September 5, 1920, in Detroit, MI, to Fred and Martha Fleischner, Clarence was the oldest of 3 children. He attended grade schools in Detroit and Port Huron, MI. He was a student at Sacred Heart Seminary for 5 years before transferring to Assumption College in Windsor, Ontario, where he received his BA degree in 1943. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Rita Granke, who would become his wife on November 16, 1946. Together they would have 3 children. Clarence served in the US Navy as a Physical Instructor at the Naval Air Bases in New England and was honorably discharged in 1946. He held various positions with U.S. Rubber Company, Standard Oil, Pfeiffer Brewing Company, Excello Corporation and Western Petrachemical Corporation. He became a sales representative for DX Sunray Oil Company in 1960, a position that moved his family from Detroit to Tulsa. In 1968, he started his own business as a manufacturer’s representative, a position he held until his retirement. He was a charter member of St. Pius X Church, where he worshipped until his death. Clarence had a love of all things western and enjoyed playing golf after learning the game while employed as a caddy in his youth. Most of all, he was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his gregarious and charming personality. Clarence was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Rita; his parents; his brother Raymond; and, his grandson Blake. He is survived by 2 sons, Fred (Linda) of Tulsa and Robert (Terry) of DeBary, FL; a daughter, Janet Price (Ed) of Tulsa; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a sister Dorothy Dietzler of Roseville, MI; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Jeneen Zucker for her compassionate and loving care of Clarence these past 2 months, and the staffs of St. John’s Hospice, Miller Hospice and the Tulsa Jewish Center for their kindness and the quality care he received. A Rosary will be held Friday, November 21, 2014, at 7 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2014, both at St. Pius X Church, with private family interment immediately following at Floral Haven Cemetery.
