Clarice Jane Armstrong's Obituary
Clarice Jane Armstrong, 93, of Collinsville, Oklahoma entered eternal rest on August 31, 2024 at North County Assisted Living. She was born October 5, 1930 in Cushing, Oklahoma, the oldest child of Clarence and Jane Angeline (Mayes) Jetton.
She graduated from Salina High School (Salina, Oklahoma) in 1949 where she played basketball and participated in Drama and Glee Club. She later graduated from Northeastern State University, studying Business and Elementary/Physical Education.
She married James Kirby in 1950 and had a son, Jim Kirby. She married Glen Armstrong April 4, 1969. They had one daughter, Glenda Armstong Sweeney.
Clarice taught for over 30 years in several public schools in northeastern Oklahoma. She retired from Owasso Public Schools in 1989 but continued to substitute teach for many years after that.
Clarice enjoyed sewing, canning, and gardening. She and her family lived on a farm northeast of Collinsville for over 50 years, where they had an orchard and a garden most of their time there.
Clarice was a member most recently of Current Church. In her younger years, she volunteered often in different areas of ministry. She cherished the relationships that were forged through church, work, and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen, parents Clarence and Angeline Jetton, brothers Randy Jetton and Jim Tom Jetton, and numerous in laws.
She is survived by: Jacquie Jetton (sister), Jim (son) and Jennifer Kirby, Glenda Armstrong Sweeney (daughter), grandkids Josh and Shannon Kirby, Jessica Kirby, Kristen and David Sweeney, great grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews.
We are grateful for the care she received at North County Assisted Living in Collinsville, Oklahoma.
A visitation will be held on Monday September 9, 2024 at Floral Haven Funeral Home from 4PM - 7PM. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday September 10, 2024 at 12:30PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Jim Carney officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
