Claudia "Leslie" Cole's Obituary
Claudia “Leslie” Cole, born October 31, 1941, died June 6, 2016 at the age of 74. Leslie grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, graduated from New Trier High School in Chicago, Illinois. Leslie grew up in the Geraldine Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. She married Joe Charles Cole June 16, 1961. Becoming a part of the Navy Family, they lived on numerous naval bases up until 1975 when they set down permanent roots in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Leslie was an avid animal lover, teaching obedience dog school, winning numerous awards, including the highest dog obedience award, known as, “The Otch”. She was a teacher and also served as a board member on the Tulsa Dog Training Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Leslie wore many hats in her lifetime. She was a Sunday school teacher at the Garnett Road Church of Christ, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to her husband, children, grandchildren and many others. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Cole, M.D., her parents, Elbert & Anita Giddens and her aunt, Zelo Wride aka “Mama Z”. She leaves behind her children, Mark and Angel Cole of Boydton, Virginia, Laura and Ed Schopf of Houston, Texas, Angela Cole of Edmond, Oklahoma and Courtney and Robert Grogan of Guthrie, Oklahoma; her 12 grandchildren, Bradyn Cole, Declan Cole, Liam Cole, Landon Cole, Lillian Cole, Kyle Startz, Cole Startz, Riley Griffis, Megan Griffis, Nathan Griffis, John Grogan & Grace Grogan; her sister-in-law, Judy Rowak, brother-in-law, John Rownak, and her nephews, David Rownak, Brian Rownak, Joel Rownak; her sister, Nancy Davis, her nephew, Kent Davis and her niece Cammie Davis. She also leaves behind her dear friends, Ray and Patty Newman and Cecil and Carrie Pettigrew, whom she loved dearly. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
