Becky, Rick, and JudiYou may not remember, but, Red and Judy invited us to your house in Bixby to play Canasta one evening several years ago. Mainly, it was a plan between them and our parents to introduce us to each other. We hit it off just fine and were married 7 months later and will celebrate our 56th anniversary next April. Over the years, Coach Rogers and I sat together at several funerals for our friends who had passed. We wondered several times when we would be the Guest of Honor. As so many others that he had touched in his lifetime, I will be forever grateful for having known him, his family, and his great friends who assisted him in his coaching career. They didn't need to shout and scold to achieve results. He showed you how and expected you to do your best. That is all he ever asked of any of us that I know of. I wish I had more time to visit with his friends and mine today. I know that all of our time will seem like a speck of history when it is our turn to be the guest of honor. Just wanted to say what a joy and privilege it was to get to play for Coach. He not only coached football, he coached the game of life. Anyone who was fortunate enough to get to play for him was a better person from the experience. Today as I was getting ready for his funeral I wanted to put on my old game jersey. I just wanted to suit up one more time for the coach I loved and respected. Only one slight problem, it would not fit. In fact, one of the last conversations I had with Coach he jokingly told me he'd make a lineman out of me now. I told him I'd stick with tailback and linebacker.
