Clyde Irvin Yates' Obituary
Clyde Irvin Yates was born to Rosa Opal Payne and Clyde Grady Yates in Mission, Texas on September 26, 1926 and died on October 4, 2014 at the age of 88.He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.He joined the Navy V-12 program at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi and graduated with a degree in Chemistry and became a Chemical Engineer. He became a specialist in composite materials, leading to his work on the space program in Rocketdyne, California and later the space shuttle program in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also wrote a book titled Career in Composites.He was married September 10, 1943 to Mary Jeanne Woodward and together they celebrated 67 years of marriage.He loved playing golf and in 1998 he shot a hole-in-one. After retirement he played almost daily with the R.O.B.’s (retired old boys). He loved spending time with family and because we were a small family, he always extended that love to friends who we feel are our adopted family. He spent his final 10 years at Montereau in Tulsa, Oklahoma where his adopted family grew even larger.Clyde was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jeanne Yates and parents Rosa Opal Payne and Clyde Grady Yates. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Aprille & Bob Krah, grandchildren Amber Kollock & Brett Krah and grandson-in-law Tyler Kollock.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
