Lt Col. Marvin McKinley Morgan's Obituary
Lt/Col. Marvin McKinley Morgan was born on December 29, 1925 in Muskogee to Thurman McKinley and Kathleen T. Hudspeth Morgan. He grew up in Muskogee and started Marvins Cycle Shop when he was 15. It is still in business after 67 years and he was the youngest Harley Davidson Dealer before he enlisted in the United States Army. While he served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam retiring in 1968 as a Lt/Col. He was awarded many citations including the Bronze Star in WWII and Vietnam and the “Legion of Merit Award” presented by the President. He fought with the 89th Infantry in WWII that liberated Orduff Concentration Camp, was a pilot with the 45th Division in Korea and piloted fixed wing and helicopters in Vietnam. He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, Green Country Chapter, Army Otter-Caribou Association, Army Aviation Association of America, Past Commander of VFW Post 424 in Muskogee, 32nd Degree Mason and the Aspen Park Baptist Church. He was married to Betty Joan Smith in 1983 and they traveled around the world for the past 25 years. Military Honors will be presented at 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery and a memorial service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Aspen Park Baptist Church in Broken Arrow. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. on Thursday at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Survived By: his wife Betty; sons:Laird and wife Diane Morgan, Michael and wife Jackie Morgan and Steve Richardson; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Terry Lee Morgan and grandson Michael McKinley Morgan II;
