Cuong Chi Tran's Obituary
Cuong Chi Tran was born in Hai Phong, Vietnam on January 21, 1941. His parents are Tran Thick Khuong and Trinh Hue Tran of Hong Kong, China. Cuong is the oldest of nine siblings; six brothers and two sisters. Among some of his great accomplishments is he played an important role in the Vietnam War. He was a special agent interpreter for the CIA, helping aid the Americans through translation. In 1988, Cuong, his wife Dia, and five children were able to leave Vietnam and come to America, where they had their sixth child a few month later. In 1990, he was able to begin fulfilling his American dream of owning his own business in which he opened Viet Huong Restaurant. 26 years later and the restaurant is still successful and many customers who know him as “Billy” have become his friends and extended family. He is known throughout the community as the staple of the restaurant and will often just pull up a chair to your table and start a conversation. Cuong Chi Tran, age 76, passed away at St. Francis Hospital of Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 7, 2017 at 1:40pm. He went to be with God peacefully after battling ongoing pneumonia and complications from a massive heart attack a year prior. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dia Thi Nguyen; his son, Minh Khai Tran; his daughters, Phuong Le Tran, Binh Le Tran, Marie Man Le Tran, Linh Le Tran, and Kally Tran; his grandchildren, Tina Le, Tommy Le, Austin Le, Kevin Le, Tyler Le, Katelyn Nguyen, and Wesson Nguyen. Also, his brothers, Quoc Tran, Vi Tran, Nghiep Tran and Khanh Tran and sister Hoa Tran.. Funeral service to be held Friday, January 13th, 2017-9:00am-Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
