Cynthia Ann Duca's Obituary
Cynthia (Cyndy) Ann Duca, 61, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020. She was born on August 30, 1958, in Borger, TX, to Paul Robert Goranson and Rosella Helen Goranson. She was a Broken Arrow High School graduate of 1976 and received certification in Fashion Design and Merchandising from Tulsa VoTech; an Associate Computer Programming degree from Tulsa Jr College; and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from the University of Tulsa. She worked for Nelson Electric, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, AMOCO Production Company, and British Petroleum. In 2000, she went to work for IBM in Project Management.
In 2000, Cyndy married the love of her life, Ronald Edward Duca, making their home together in Broken Arrow and taking their dream domestic and international vacations. They were members of St. Anne Catholic Church. In 2005, Cyndy went through a professional clown training class. She later won a scholarship, based on her clown charity work, and received additional clown training from professional clowns worldwide. Cyndy felt her greatest personal achievement was becoming a professionally trained volunteer clown known as ‘Blossom’. Blossom, along with other clown friends, would clown for charity organizations such as the St. Francis Children’s Hospital, Down Syndrome, Child Abuse Network, and Make-a-Wish to name a few. Blossom loved her lavender bouncy hair and her girlie clothes. And she loved when the kids ooh and awed over her, smothering her with hugs, and called her ‘The Pretty One’. She belonged to four local clown groups, and served on the board of three of them at some point. Cyndy’s other hobbies included sewing, crafts, embroidery, tatting, and crocheting.
Cyndy began fighting breast cancer in 1990 with it advancing to metastatic breast cancer in 1994. Over the years it came back multiple times with the most recent chemotherapy treatment in 2016, causing heart failure. She continued to fight until the end. Her attitude, which she shared with others, was “Always remember someone else has it tougher than you. We all have bumps in the road and cancer was mine.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Goranson and Rosella Goranson; brother, Gary Goranson; niece, Ashley Pryor; and grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Duca of Broken Arrow; two stepsons Daniel Duca and girlfriend, Kassandra, of Tulsa; Matt Duca and wife, Sharon, of Yreka, CA; three granddaughters, Kennedy, Olivia, and Ruby; one grandson, Camden; two sisters, Glenda Goranson of Tulsa, Debbie Pryor and husband, Thomas, of Tulsa; one brother, Robert Goranson of Broken Arrow; one niece, Jessica Goranson of Tulsa; two nephews, Tony Pryor of Tulsa, and Matt Goranson of Baltimore, MD.
