Cynthia D. Hillshafer's Obituary
God gave the precious gift of Cynthia “Cindy” Dian Cheatham to her loving and thankful parents, Gary and Helen Cheatham on June 25, 1979 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Our Heavenly Father took her back home on November 25, 2018. All of our lives are better for the incredible thirty-nine years the Lord shared Cindy with us.Cindy grew up with her sister, Amy Cheatham (Donaldson) and the girls were surrounded by the love their extended family. For Cindy, most notably was the special relationship she had with her grandmother Pauline Cheatham.During Octoberfest of 2003, Gary gave permission to Jeremy Hillshafer to ask Cindy for her hand in marriage. She said “Yes”, and on December 28, 2003, Cynthia became Cindy (Sunshine to Jeremy) Hillshafer. One of Cindy’s greatest delights was in being a part of her four nieces’ lives. Rian Donaldson, Tobi Donaldson, Brady Donaldson and Hadley Price held a very special place in her heart.Cindy was blessed by the Lord with the birth of her son, Garrett Wayne Hillshafer in May 2011, and she often stated that Garrett was the best thing she had ever done.Besides her family Cindy was also passionate about education and helping people. She combined these two passions into a long career in Health Care which started when she was 15 years of age as a Nurses Technician. After graduating Nathan Hale Senior High school in Tulsa, she went on to Oklahoma University where and earned her Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology- Radiation Therapy in 2002. With those credentials she began a career of treating cancer patients that continued for a decade at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. During her time in Radiation Therapy she worked her way into a management position and in 2010 she earned her Masters of Science in Health Care Administration from Oklahoma State University. With her experience with Health care administration, she left the private sector and began to serve the Creek Nation as Health care Administrator for the Coweta Indian Health Clinic until 2016.On top of being a wonderful mother and a compassionate healthcare professional Cindy was also a tomboy at heart. While she could be girly, she could “hang with the boys” with the best of them. Her tenacity was a landmark of her personality and the best way to get her to do something was to tell her that she couldn’t. Her knowledge of the Rocky movie series is legendary and she would pump herself up for major life events by listening to the Rock Theme song.In short, she was larger than life and incredible and will be missed dearly.Funeral Services will be held in her honor at 2PM, November 29, 2018 at the Rose Chapel at Floral Haven.Instead of Flower donations, if one feels in their heart to do so, donations can be made in Cindy’s name to one of the following three charities.American Cancer Society.American Diabetes Association.SPCA
