Dale Jones was born on May 16, 1959, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Tom and Darla Jones. This is where he grew up and graduated from McClain High School. Dale was lovingly known as “Darlin” by the love of his life and PaPaw to his six grandchildren and two daughters. He first met the love of his life in high school, they parted ways after, and then God brought them back together and they married on Sept 1, 2006. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Savanna where he once was the youngest of the men’s group and became one of the eldest of the men’s Sunday school group. How he loved his church family and giving the ladies of the church a hard time. If you were to ask Dale what one of his greatest joys in life was, it would be worshipping in the House of the Lord with his family alongside him. He loved Jesus, his family, and those around him big and genuinely, truly one the most tenderhearted men you will have ever met. He worked and retired as an over the road truck driver. Him working on the road gave him plenty of opportunity to bring home stray animals, objects, and/or people…. And boy did he ever! There will always be a story or an account of how he stopped on the side of the road to pick this or that up for someone he thought could use it, there was nothing he wouldn’t do for you if he was capable. This was true to his heart and character, there were no bounds to his love for everyone and what he would do for you. He never met a stranger, and he would not shy away from asking you about your life. In fact, as his family, we would never know what kind of conversation we were going to be walking up on when he was talking with someone. It often left us shaking our heads and saying, “oh, Dale”. He loved taking his oldest granddaughter, Madisynne, to the “dump” on Saturday mornings when she was little. The “dump” was really a flea market, but they would put their overalls on and head to find the week’s treasures. We never knew what they were going to come home with or the trouble they were going to get in to. He loved his big truck and letting his grandkids climb up in it and honk the horn. He loved gardening, it was a joy for him to work and tend his garden. He grew the prettiest corn field ever. He enjoyed cooking too, and by cooking, throw whatever was left in the fridge in a pot and call it stew. It is because of this that he was usually the only one who would eat whatever the concoction was. He loved all his dogs and just kept bringing them home even though he was told to stop. We aren’t sure who is going to give them silly haircuts now. During the last year of his life, he met some great friends in the medical field that took care of him. He loved them dearly and they quickly became like family to him. If he had to spend his days at the hospital, he couldn’t imagine doing it without them there. He loved life, he believed in the goodness and best of people. We could carry on about the goodness of who he was but know that the love he gave was unmatched, the void he leaves behind is vast, and the legacy and memories we have because of who he is, will never be forgotten. We are grateful that we know Dale is with the Lord, worshipping with all those that have gone before him, for all eternity and that we will see him again, soon.
