Dale Edward Wheeler's Obituary
Dale Edward Wheeler of Broken Arrow, OK was born on May 16, 1949 to Archie Leroy Wheeler and Elizabeth May (Waymire) Wheeler in Ottawa, Kansas and passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 25, 2022 with his family by his side.
As a young boy, Dale lived in Ottawa, Kansas and attended school there thru the third grade. In 1958, Dale and his family moved to the Center School District in South Kansas City, Missouri, where he spent his remaining school years graduating from Center High School in 1967. Dale continued his education at the University of Missouri at Rolla (UMR), Rolla, Missouri pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After completing his first year of a five-year program, Dale enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 12 December 1968. He completed his 4-year Navy enlistment on 11 December 1972 after serving a year in Vietnam. While in the Navy, Dale married Mary Jeanine Lyons on February 14, 1969 at the Colonial Presbyterian Church in Kansas City. After completing his Naval service, Dale returned to the University of Missouri at Rolla and attained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) in December, 1976. During his career as a Mechanical Engineer, some of his many accomplishments included five patents he received to attain market advantage for his employers.
Dale and Mary were blessed with two Children, Jay Edward Wheeler (born November 8, 1970) and Kathryn Lynn Wheeler (born August 9, 1976). Dale leaves his wife, Mary, of the home; son, Jay and wife Debra (Hancock) Wheeler and Grandchildren, Alexa, and Zoe; and daughter, Kathryn and husband, Brandon McAdams and Grandchildren Kyle and Clay. One Great Granddaughter, Renae Reese, also survives him. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Harry Raynor “Ray” Wheeler of Clinton, IL. He also leaves a sister, Mary Louise “Mary Lou” Henry of North Kansas City, Missouri.
Dale enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. Some of the best times of his life were spent riding ATV’s with his children and grandchildren, and traveling the world with Mary. In his retirement years, winters were spent doing Genealogy and longing for warm weather and outdoor fun with family again.
Dale was proud to serve his country and will be interred in the Veteran’s section of Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow. No services are planned per Dale’s request.
