Dalia Maria Terry's Obituary
Dalia Maria Garza Terry was called home to the Lord while surrounded by family on December 11th. Born on November 15th in Corpus Christi, Texas, Dalia was one of nine children to Alberto and Rita Inez Garza. After leaving Corpus, Dalia spent her adult life living in Houston. And at a time when she never thought she’d let someone else in, Dalia met the love of her life, Ed, while working at Texas Gas. After a lengthy career with Texas Gas, Dalia transitioned to Transco and then WINGS – Williams International Gas division. Daila was very proud of her work with WINGS, where she worked her way up to earn privileges such as a parking space next to the big wigs of the company, unrestricted building access, and being flown out to handle important business. Dalia left WINGS to raise her son. The most important thing to Dalia was family, which she proved every day to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Dalia touched so many hearts with her love and compassion. She was the strongest woman out there and proved it many times over; she could be stubborn and hardheaded, but was annoyingly always right, and always had your back at the end of the day. Dalia loved to dance, throw parties, be outdoors, act silly even when everyone was watching, and volunteer her time wherever it was needed. Dalia had the best team on her side during her battle with cancer, including her amazing neighbors, who she loved dearly. In her last few days, she kept saying she wanted to leave a legacy but wasn’t sure what it would be. Her name may never be on a building or even a park bench, but from all the texts and calls we have received these past few days, her wish came true. It wasn’t one big thing she did, it was all the little things she did for those around her.
Those who are truly feeling Dalia’s absence are her husband Ed Terry, her two children, Sarah (James) and Nicholas, and her grandchildren Sofia and Lucas. She leaves behind her siblings Bertha Gonzalez, Alicia Garza, Alma Obregon (Ross), Amelida Payne (Bob), Irma Moulton, Sam Garza (Lisa), and Jesse Garza, and many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her brother Albert Garza, and parents Alberto and Rita Inez Garza.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate your time or money to Texas EquuSearch in Dalia’s name.
