Daniel Crossland's Obituary
Daniel Wesley Crossland, 89, passed from this life on November 3, 2019 at his home in Cleveland, Oklahoma with his family by his side. Dan was born on September 14, 1930 in Lambert, Mississippi to Harvey Nelson and Edna Jane (Maulden) Crossland.He attended school in Lambert until his father passed of leukemia in his 8th grade year. Dan took over the family land, using mules to plow until they purchased a tractor. Dan made his way to southeast Oklahoma where he started his driving career selling fruit and other produce. Later, Dan went to work at Hope Lumber Company in Tulsa, working until he retired after 40 years.On September 1, 2000 he married Nancy Ellen Burgess in Pawnee County Oklahoma and they shared 19 years together.Dan was an avid traveler in work and leisure. Once retired Dan and Nancy took many trips to western United States. He loved traveling and telling a good story. He also loved sharing memories of growing up in Mississippi and his many antics with his sister Bessie. When he wasn’t traveling one of Dan’s favorite past times was watching westerns and listening to Ray Price. When it came to eating, he loved a good Whataburger.Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Bessie Mae (Crossland) Hill, his brother Fred Nelson Crossland, his first wife Marian Sue (Hubbard) Crossland, his daughter Rhonda Sue (Crossland) Sutter and son Frank Hubbard. Dan is survived by his wife Nancy of the home; son Danny Crossland and his wife Cheral of Broken Arrow, daughter Melissa (Hubbard) Wilson and husband Don. His grandchildren: Michael Sutter and his wife Maya of Eagleville, Tennessee; Kelli (Sutter) Marriner and her husband Ben of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Heather Crossland of Tulsa, Oklahoma; James F. Hubbard, III of Richardson, Texas; Allison Hubbard of Dallas, Texas; Collin Hubbard of Denton, Texas; Kiley (Wilson) Aaron and her husband Conrad, Jamie Wilson, and David Wilson all of Norman, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Bayli and Esmé Sutter; Wyatt and Hope Marriner.A remembrance of Dan’s life is being held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Church of Christ in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
