Daniel Joseph Eckenfels' Obituary
Daniel Joseph “Dan” Eckenfels, 87, of Tulsa, passed away in his beloved home on Sunday, 8 November 2020, surrounded by his loving family. Born in North Ridgeville, Ohio, on 8 June 1933, he was the sixth of seven children born to Florence Ternes Winson Eckenfels, and his father, Joseph Henry Eckenfels. “Dan” had 4 sisters, Pauline, Josephine, Ernestine and Grace and 2 brothers, Leonard and Gene.
In 1958, while in the US Army for military service in Edgewood, Maryland, he met a secretary working on the base, Sandra Lee Colborn. They married on 11 April 1959, less than 1 year after meeting, and built a home and settled in Elyria, Ohio. They had 4 children; Danette Marie Goyer and Mark Allen Eckenfels both of Owasso, Michael Richard Eckenfels of Skiatook, and Timothy Lee Eckenfels of Sydney, AUS. In 1969 the family relocated to Tulsa, where they have resided since. Over the years the family has grown to 28 members, including 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Dan was a well respected business owner. Twenty-three years after his transfer to Tulsa with Brown Fin Tube, Dan purchased RW Holland Inc. He built it into the thriving establishment it is today. Dan and his wife Sandy were active members of Church of the Resurrection and took pride in their service and community for the past 50 years. But what he will be remembered for most, is a loving husband, father and grandfather to his devoted family.
Daniel was preceded in passing by his parents, Joseph Henry Eckenfels and Florence Lydia Eckenfels (Ternes); his spouse, Sandra Lee Eckenfels; siblings, Eugene Eckenfels, Leonard Winson, Pauline Antolic, Josephine Perryman, Ernestine Gutzeit and his son-in-law, Carey Goyer.
