Daniel Richard Lopez's Obituary
Daniel R. Lopez, 89, passed away at home April 1, 2016, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Danny was born April 7, 1926 in Paint Rock, Texas to Vicente and Estella Lopez. Danny was raised in Fredericksburg, Texas, and lived in San Antonio, Texas before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He started his lifelong career in the linen business in San Antonio, Texas, and then Springdale, Arkansas, where he met the love of his life. He spent 35 years at Superior Linen based in Tulsa. He retired in 2004, devoting his time to growing fabulous tomatoes and helping at the family farm in Arkansas. He also enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, taking long walks, kissing his wife, and hugging his kids and grandkids. He was also a longtime member of Southwood Baptist Church and loved the Lord. He also had a brief stint as a trainer of bird dogs and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Danny is survived by his wife of 53 years Geraldine (Jean) Lopez and by four children: daughter Sandra (David) Green of Rogers, Ark., daughters Cindy (Mike) Proctor of San Antonio, Texas, and Carla (Kevin) English of Tulsa, son Richard (Leslie) Lopez of San Anselmo, Calif.; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Predeceased by father Vicente Lopez, mother Estella Maggie Lopez, sister Lorene Langbein, sister Dorothy Howard, brother Lesley Logan, daughter Janet Louise Henderson, and grandson Ethan Cole English. Visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday April 4th at Floral Haven. Memorial service 10 a.m. Tuesday April 5th, Southwood Baptist Church, Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, donations to Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa or your local chapter are suggested, as well as making a blood donation to your local Red Cross.
