Danny Carl Snyder's Obituary
Danny Carl Snyder
Danny passed from this life on September 17, 2022, at 2:47 am at St John’s Hospital in Tulsa, from complications of COVID. Danny had family by his side at the time of his passing. He was 70 years old.
Danny Carl Snyder was born March 31, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Ruby (Harmon) and Lester Snyder.
Danny was a survivor of Hissom Memorial Center. Following his release from Hissom, Danny went to live at Hayes House in Nowata. Despite the hardships Danny endured early in life, he went on to live a life filled with joy. In August 1994, he moved to Bartlesville with AbilityWorks, where he would live the remainder of his life and where he would form life-long friendships with his two roommates: Hershell B and Carl. “The 3 Musketeers,” as they were known to those around them, had a friendship and love for each other that was inspiring and from which everyone could learn. They even had a magazine article published about their devotion to each other. In Bartlesville, Danny was lucky enough to find love with Kathy, his long-time girlfriend. They enjoyed going to dances together and going out to eat.
One of Danny’s greatest joys in life was the Special Olympics. The highlight of his year was going to Stillwater every May, staying in the dorms, participating in the events and attending all of the activities. He loved to compete in bowling, the 25-meter walk, and the softball throw. He was featured in a Channel 6 story about his love of bowling. Danny also loved to sing and was a member of the choir at AbilityWorks. Danny was a traveler and went on many cruises over the years, which he enjoyed immensely.
Danny never met a stranger. He was loved and adored by his family. He will be deeply missed but his family rejoices that he is no longer suffering and is reunited with his parents and in the presence of Jesus.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Lester Snyder, brother Randall Jones (Judy), and brother-in-law Tim Hunt. He was also preceded in death by girlfriend Kathy, and roommate Carl.
Danny is survived by his sisters, Patricia Fowler, Dottie Hunt, and Lena Parker and brothers, Lester Snyder, Philip Snyder (Lonnie), Ernie Jones (Diane), and George Snyder. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including his niece, Carol Lewis (Kyle) with whom he had a special bond. He is also survived by his roommate Hershell Bohon.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Danny’s “family” at AbilityWorks: your love and care didn’t go unnoticed. Also, to Jill Barr, DHS nurse manager: your support through this last month means more than you will ever know.
Services are at 12:30 Wednesday, September 21 at Floral Haven Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Special Olympics Oklahoma.
