David Leon Clemmer's Obituary
David Leon Clemmer was born November 18, 1954 to William Gene Clemmer and Omega Frances Howard in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He softly left us September 4, 2023 from his son's house in Durant, Oklahoma.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Roger, his brothers-in-love Ronnie and Donnie Griffith, his sisters-in-love Rita Symanski and Judy Harper.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marlene, son Derrick and wife Linsey, daughter Ashley and husband Brad, seven grandchildren, lovingly referred to as the Superior Seven, and numerous well-loved nieces and nephews.
David grew up in a west Tulsa neighborhood, where he met the love of his life at 8 years old while defending her honor against another 8 year old boy, on the mean streets of Garden City.
Over the next 14 years a friendship formed that soon blossomed into love. On June 4, 1976 they married in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the next few years they welcomed two beautiful children and David began his career of 33 years at Muncie Power Products.
David enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar and piano. He had a deep love of music that crossed different genres, especially music that told a story. David enjoyed gardening, planting both vegetables and flowers, and was very particular about his lawn. He was also generous with his time and resources to the homeless community. He had a kind heart and there were many times over the years he filled the role of father to the fatherless.
David always had a deep respect for God and His word. Later in life, he was baptized and gave his heart to Christ and was forever changed. He is a founding member of Freedom Place Owasso. He greatly loved and appreciated his Freedom family.
The most important things in his life were God and family. He was a man of great faith who believed that miracles, signs and wonders were not a thing of the past, but for the church of today. He was faithful to operate in the gifts of the spirit and follow the leading of the Holy Ghost.
He was a quiet man, with a gruff exterior and a hart of gold. The best parts of him will live on through his children and grandchildren.
