David Arnold Cruz's Obituary
David A. Cruz, born May 8, 1961, in Fontana, California, passed away on March 18, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. David was a man of many passions, with a heart as expansive as his interests. He was known for his green thumb and deep love of planting, always nurturing life in his garden with the same care and attention he showed to his loved ones. His love for nature and the outdoors was matched only by his passion for sports, especially basketball, where he was a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. David also found great joy in fishing, where quiet moments by the water brought him peace.
A true foodie, David loved to explore new flavors and enjoyed sharing meals with friends and family. He was a man of deep faith, always guided by his love for Jesus Christ, which was reflected in his kindness, honesty, and unwavering strength. David had a heart of gold—he was known for his genuine kindness, sweet spirit, and good-natured humor. He was a strong-willed individual, making no excuses for what he believed was right and true, and was always willing to lend a hand or an ear to anyone who needed it.
David is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Victor P. Cruz and Gloria Garcia. He is survived by his children from a previous relationship: David Cruz Jr., Leo Cruz, Carey, Francine, Karina and significant other, Amelia Martinez; children: Jesse Martinez, Irene Surratt and her husband Otis Jr., Jose Martinez and Carlos Cruz; grandchildren, Hector Sosa and his wife Ariana, Marie Surratt, Kyren Surratt, and Otis Surratt III; and many friends and loved ones who were touched by his kindness and warmth.
