David Noel Gillespie's Obituary
David Noel Gillispie was born January 17, 1953 in Eldorado, Texas. He was the fourth child of Verda Fae (Cox) Gillispie and Ervin James Gillispie. David graduated from Wilson High School as class salutatorian. After graduation, David joined the Air Force and became a Sergeant. David worked military Intelligence and his superiors referred to David as a truly outstanding operator who excelled in every task given to him. He was highly competent and he was used on more difficult positions which required perseverance and constant alertness. One commander wrote that David’s thorough knowledge of his assignments and superior job performance with maximum productivity made him a very valuable asset to his section. His military bearing and behavior were above reproach. Upon his honorable discharge, David attended the University of Oklahoma and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. David worked in the Engineering field for many years. In 1991 David married Rachel Elaine Ross and had 2 children, Presley Dane born November 22, 1993 and Elisabeth Danielle born August 10, 1996. David was so proud and loved his children dearly. David enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, boating, and was a certified master scuba diver. David loved the Oklahoma Sooners football team. David is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wilma, and one nephew Phillip. He is survived by his brother James and wife Melba, sister Wanda Lamle and husband Jed, brother Larry, brother Kenny, brother Tim and wife Leslie, and sister Carolyn Hays and husband Larry. Including numerous extended family and many friends. David will be missed every day. David’s favorite Bible verse was 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV) “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” Celebration of Life Service will be 12:30 pm, Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel
