David Thomas Hernandez's Obituary
David Thomas Hernandez Birth date: May 20, 1936. Death date: October 4, 2010. 74 years old. First born of 13 (yes, 13!) children to Regina Kuczewski and Thomas Hernandez. Wife of 43 years: Grace Antoinette Hernandez. Three children: Regina Stade, Giovanna Frick and Thomas Hernandez. Six grandchildren: Amber and Jonathan Stade, Alexander David (named after him) Frick, and Ava, Caroline and Mary Beth Hernandez David was a dear husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He struggled early in life and overcame hardship and adversity to ultimately succeed in life. David worked hard to provide a fortunate life for his wife and children. He liked his occupation and took great pride in learning the mechanics of airplanes and receiving his license. He was eventually promoted to Quality Assurance Inspector and he received numerous awards at his job, including the Golden Wrench Award and awards for perfect attendance. He retired with great pride knowing that he put in long hours and many years of service to his profession. He took his knowledge of airline mechanics and applied that talent to fixing many other things from cars to appliances. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and enjoyed expressing love through helping others and by asking if their cars, lawnmowers, etc, were working properly. David also played hard. He was a pool champion in Broken Arrow and enjoyed playing pool at home on his own pool table. He also liked to play golf, chess, and card games. He can be described as competitive and exceeded in anything that he tried to do. David loved his family. He always kissed Grace (Mom) goodbye before leaving for work. He appreciated her devotion and excellent caretaker abilities. He knew that he was fortunate to have Grace as a wife. He taught his children how to drive, how to play pool, and how to do well in life. He went to his children's games and practices and showed support by just being there. He displayed a work ethic that all his children have learned. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and told anyone who would listen about his children and grandchildren. It was easy for him to strike up a conversation with people and he would talk to anyone who would listen. He took great pride that Regina is a teacher, Giovanna is an attorney and Tom is a dentist. He was so proud of his grandson, Alex. Alex will always remember that Grandpa taught him how to play chess and taught him how gasoline engines work. He tried many things with his children too ' from jumping on the trampoline, roller skating, and jumping off a high dive. He also spent time watching his favorite show, 'Wheel of Fortune.' David was a funny man too. Sometimes this was on purpose and sometimes not. David would often confuse some words. For example, he said the actor's name is Joe Pepsi instead of Joe Pesci. His family liked to laugh at his jiggling of the coins in his pocket, the fact that he could never find the 'right' pair of socks, and the fact that he made fun of people who wore 'shower shoes' (flip flops). He said those shoes were only for the shower or the beach. He also made fun of people always carrying drinks around. He found it amusing that many people could not go anywhere without a drink in their hand. David liked to talk. Actually, this is an understatement. He had a gregarious personality and liked to have lively conversations about many subjects, including politics. He knew much about everything and wanted you to know what he knew. He wanted to improve the world and would let you know exactly how it should be done! David will always be loved and remembered. His family will keep his spirit alive by talking about him, repeating stories about him, and laughing with him in spirit.
