David Frank Huffman's Obituary
David Frank Huffman was born June 19, 1954 in Lyons, Kansas and passed away June 2, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After a long battle with illness, he won the ultimate victory and now has a new body in heaven with Christ. Now, he is finally free to fly again! David was one of three children born to Darrell Frank Huffman and Bettye Jean Gustus. David is survived by his spouse Debra Huffman of 33.5 years of Broken Arrow, OK; son Dustin Huffman of San Antonio, TX; son Andrew Huffman and his wife Nicole of Tulsa, OK; mother Bettye Jane Gustus of Lyons KS; sister Vickie Folck and her husband Gary of Lyons, KS; step-sister Lisa Bruns of Bemidji, MN; step-sister Karla Schumacher of Wichita, KS and numerous other family members and friends. David is preceded in passing by his father D.F. Huffman; step-mother LaVerna Huffman; step-father Cliff Gustus and sister Debra Laessig. David was a handy-man extraordinaire. He used to call himself a jack of all trades, master of none. There was hardly anything that he couldn’t do. He was an EMT for a short time in the 80’s. He was also a pilot and worked with his father in the family crop dusting business in Lyons, KS. He then began a career in the oil and gas industry and moved his family to Oklahoma in 1986. He was a photographer, an avid gardener, and a master mechanic. He enjoyed hobbies such as growing his own herbs and vegetables, making homemade pickles and beef jerky, fishing, golfing, and cooking. David had a big heart for music and played the guitar at Cedar Ridge Christian Church in the worship band for many years. He was most proud of his children. His goal in life was to witness both of his sons graduating from college. That goal became reality on May 9, 2015, the day that Andrew, his second son, graduated from OSU. His firstborn, Dustin, a Senior Airman with the USAF, graduated from OU in 2007. He had always looked forward to being a grandfather, but we believe he is in heaven with his future grandbabies at this very moment. David was a quiet and humble man, but greatly impacted everyone that knew him. His words may have been few, but they were full of wisdom and insight way beyond our years. David will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. His family is finally at peace because they know he is flying in heaven. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at Cedar Ridge Christian Church in Broken Arrow on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.There will be a Fellowship Service at First United Methodist Church in Lyons, Kansas on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 3-6 p.m.
