I have fond memories of working with Dave in the Tulsa office of Arthur Andersen during the early 80’s. He always had a positive leadership style, a gentle smile and an encouraging word. The world was a better place for having him here. My sincere sympathy with God’s comfort and blessings to Dave’s family and friends. Jack
I first met Dave when we both played on the Arthur Andersen touch football team in the very early 1970s. He was low key but had great hands and was very dependable. I always have enjoyed the times we spent together, beginning on the touch football field, doing a few legal deals together, playing golf and generally socializing. He was a fine man and an inspiration to me. He will be greatly missed.
I first met Dave when he was part of the decision team on where the next Capital One location would be. I was immediately impressed by his kindness and humility as he asked me my thoughts about Tulsa. I had no idea at the time he was a Tulsa native and huge fan of our city.I owe Dave my career at Capital One. He saw something in me and helped me come aboard. I learned so much from him in the years we worked together. Each time he came to our Tulsa center I was able to see a little more about him and how he operated. Always with kindness, humility and brilliance – at the same time.
I pray God gives his family peace during this time and help them know how special Dave was here on earth and how pleased Jesus is to have him in heaven now.
A great many of us in our industry owe a debt of gratitude to Dave that can never be repaid. He led by example in everything he did and his quiet, grace-filled demeanor was a gift from God. Any of us that got to work with him over the years are better for it. Thank you, Dave, for never forgetting who you were and whose you were. May the Good Lord wrap the Lawson family in His loving arms now and in the days and months ahead and bring you peace and comfort. Rest in Peace.
So sorry for your loss. Dave was an incredible leader, mentor, roll model and friend to so many. He taught us all be his example to lead by grace, authenticity and humility. His life touched so many of us in such a profound way and has legacy lives on in all of us that had the privilege to know him. He will be dearly missed. Steve.
Dave saved me.He believed in me when I did not. He encouraged me when motivation was scarce. He let me fail and then try again. He uplifted me when I could not. He taught me when lessons were difficult to recognize. And, when the time was right – it was right a lot – he celebrated.Dave was quiet, subtle, deliberate, quick to care and slow to anger. His actions spoke words humble men rarely utter.
