David James Lenz's Obituary
It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of David Lenz, who passed in his sleep on August 20, 2014. David was born in Fort Wayne, IN on June 16, 1947 to Eloise (Ruppard) Lenz-Hively and Willard Lenz. Dave grew up in Fort Wayne, and he graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in 1964. Upon graduating David married Cherrie Lenz on June 21, 1969. After being joined in Holy Matrimony David joined the United States Air Force, and was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona. While living in Phoenix the couple welcomed their first child Jenny Lenz (Bailey). After serving his country Dave was honorably discharged, and the family moved back to Fort Wayne. After returning to Fort Wayne David completed his Bachelor’s Degree at St Francis College. Soon thereafter the family welcomed their son Cort Lenz to the family. Dave, Cherrie, and the kids moved to Warsaw, IN where he began his career at DePuy Orthopedics. In the early 80’s the Dave received a promotion and relocated the family to Tulsa, Oklahoma. While in Tulsa and Broken Arrow Dave became a successful sale person, and eventually became the DePuy Distributor for the entire state of Oklahoma. After selling his business in the mid-90’s Dave began to pursue other professional interests in the Financial Services and Wealth Management Industry. David enjoyed fishing, watching Cort play soccer, watching Jenny play softball and volleyball, playing catch in the backyard, vacationing in Colorado, watching the Cubbies, cheering on the Bears, playing Trivial Pursuit, talking politics, watching any sports programs on TV, and giving nicknames. David is preceded in death by his Sister Ann Burk, and both his parents. He is survived by his ex-wife Cherrie Lenz, his daughter Jenny Bailey and her husband Rodney, his son Cort Lenz his wife Kaci, his brother-in-law Jim Burk, 7 Grandchildren (Coleman, Holden, Austin, November, Cooper, Ryder, and Tyler), and 7 Nieces and Nephews. Visitation will be from Noon until 8PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home on Friday, August 22nd; please come meet with the entire family from 6PM until 8PM. Funeral services for David will be at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Tulsa, OK on Saturday, August 23rd from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. David will be laid to rest at the Floral Haven Cemetery in Tulsa, OK.
