David Anthony Masterson, age 69, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Broken Arrow surrounded by family. He was born on May 24, 1956, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Lee and Edwin Masterson.
From an early age, David was captivated by flight— a passion that shaped his life and career. He became a distinguished pilot, logging more than 18,000 flight hours in a wide range of jet aircraft and flying to nearly every state in the country over his 50 years of flying. His skill, dedication, and professionalism earned him deep respect throughout the aviation community.
Beyond the cockpit, David found great joy in building and flying model airplanes, a hobby he pursued nearly his entire life. He also had a lifelong appreciation for his motorcycles and Camaros. His curiosity extended beyond Earth as well, with a deep fascination for space flight and exploration.
David met the love of his life, Carol, and together they shared 40 years of marriage filled with devotion, partnership, and love. He was a proud father to his son, Greg Masterson and daughter-in-law Morgan Masterson. His greatest joy was being “Grandpa” to his two grandsons, Emmett (6) and Ellis (3).
David is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Greg Masterson; daughter-in-law, Morgan Masterson; grandchildren, Emmett and Ellis; and his sister, Kathy Digges.
David will be remembered for his steady presence, professional excellence, and enduring love for flight and exploration. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the passions that defined his life.
