It is a blessing to have good neighbors, especially when they also become good friends.
Our family lived in a house in Prattville, and when they started building a new addition David, Judy, Michael and Carrie moved into the house on the opposite corner from us. Over the years, we developed a great friendship with the McNeer family. We went to church together, watched our kids go through the Sand Springs School system, graduate, go to college and begin their lives as adults. When David was transferred with AEP to Columbus, Ohio, and Judy and Carrie later joined him there, we greatly missed them during the years they were gone and were happy when they moved back to Oklahoma (even though it wasn’t across the street from us).
Losing David so soon has left a big hole in our friendship circle. David always seemed bigger than life. He was kind and generous and always ready to lend a helping hand, when needed. I remember one time my husband, Paul, decided to take down a dead oak tree in our yard all by himself. David was working in his garage workshop when he noticed Paul’s struggles with the saw. David stopped what he was doing, came over, and helped Paul take down the tree and cut it up. I’m certain his help kept Paul from countless extra hours of work and possible injury. To this day when I hear the noise of a circular saw, I think of David, as that was a sound that often came from his garage when he was working on a special project.
We are so thankful to have known David and to have been able to call him friend. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the family, as they deal with this tremendous loss.
Rest in peace dear friend.
