David Abraham Simmons

30 plus years ago I remember riding a motorcyle to a ballpark on north memorial street in tulsa. I had just started my career and needed some good ball players. It was there that I met Dave Simmons for the first time.He must have told me about every player that was there, schools they represented and more importantly if they really could play. I so appreciated his honesty and his passion for the sport.He had some great teams.I was also fortunate to have one of his eagles, sarah carriger who was definitely a difference maker. Cherrie, Nicci, and Lyndie I just read about Dave's passing. Sorry I missed the service. I was out of town. He will be sorely missed … Both on and off the field. We all had the amazing opportunity to play for Dave on the Tulsa Eagles and by and through Dave's guidance we all received scholarships to play collegiate softball. We are all so blessed that Dave provided us with such an amazing experience….an experience that changed the course of all of our lives forever.

Debbie and I appreciated all the love and work Dave gave to our daughter Mandy when she played with the Eagles. Dave Simmons was an Icon to Oklahoma in Softball and will never be forgotten. I coached with Dave from 1995 – 2000, Gold Eagles Softball Team. I enjoyed the Memorial Service for him today. That was the longest drive from OKC to Tulsa that I had ever made and I made that trip about a 1000 times. Dave, you are truly soaring with the "Eagles" now. Love, Jess, Brittany & Tiffany Maxey

Dave, how can we thank you enough for spending all your time and energy focused on a bunch of teenagers? You have helped many, many girls mature and get an education they may not have been able to have otherwise. I want to thank Dave's wife and daughters for sharing their husband and dad with the rest of us.

It has truly been an honor to have known Dave for as long as I have. Thank you for all you have done for so many of us that have been in between the lines for you. Girls softball will never be the same, and I know you are flying above, looking down on what you have accomplished, and you can sit back and grin with a cup of coffee in hand and say "I did that"!!! Our prayers and thoughts go out to all of the Simmons Family. I regret we are unable to attend this send off to the great Ball field in the Sky, but the everlasting legacy of the man known as Dave Simmons will continue to guide us in our softball career. You will be greatly missed. Just thankful to have had the opportunity to have met and worked and been coached by you. Rachel will continue to make those clean throws from 1st to 3rd just as you instructed without that extra step to compensate for her achy shoulder just for you. We are sadden about the passing of an old friend and someone who spent so much time and worked to help our daughter Kim Cloud-Teel further her softball playing and coaching days.Dave truly cared about the kids he help and did so for many years. He will never be replaced only remembered for all that he accomplished.The game is now over and Dave is the winner.Gil and Vickie Cloud
