David Lloyd Spears' Obituary
David Lloyd Spears II (Davy) age 61, passed away Sunday May 11th at Mercy Hospital, Springfield Missouri, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 12, 1963 to David and Alice Spears. He graduated from East Central High School in 1983. He worked at the SERTOMA Handicapped Opportunity Program (S.H.O.P.) from 1983 until 2020. During his tenure there he participated in the Oklahoma Special Olympics, where he won several medals. He was moved to Springfield Missouri in 2022 and resided at The Fremont Senior Living Facility.
Davy loved cartoons, video games, superhero movies (his favorite was Spiderman), Doctor Who, James Bond, The Three Stooges, Macgyver, and Star Wars. He enjoyed going to baseball games, whether it was the Tulsa Drillers or the Saint Louis or Springfield Cardinals. He enjoyed shopping trips with his brother-in-law Andy, in particular Best Buy so he could look at videos or games. He loved going to the fair to ride the rides and to meet local news celebrities.
When he was younger he liked taking apart electronics and putting them back together, and he was a pretty good bowler.
Davy never met a stranger. He was friendly to everyone he met and always up for a hug, especially from the ladies! He loved animals and was very gentle with them. He was a kind soul who touched the hearts of anyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Davy is predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father, David L. Spears. He is survived by his mother, Alice Faye Spears, his sister Elizabeth (Spears) Johnston, his brother-in-law Andy Johnston, his niece Allison (Johnston) Porcelli and husband Chris Porcelli, nephew Benjamin Johnston and fiance Sarah Smith, as well as several uncles, aunts and cousins.
