David once told me our boss needed to speak with me about something. I was worried I was in trouble. He knew this. He reassured me in an email and said "that's a good thing!" He hoped I'd move up in a job and be able to take care of my family. He was a friend and mentor I could vent to and he kept it between us. It's been 12 years and I was asked to think of a leader from my life I admired. You were a great leader and friend.
David was my boss, but treated me like a friend. I could always count on him for anything. It's been years since he left us, but his memory will always be with me. A true friend and a gentleman, he had a lot of faith in me that I'll never understand. He always told me I could tell him anything, and it would stay between us. There are few people I could trust completely, and he was one of those.
Gene and I are very sorry for the loss of David. He will be missed by many. Our prayers and thoughts are with Teresa and family.
