David Thomson's Obituary
David Joseph Thomson, age 82, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
He was born on July 19, 1943, in Terre Haute, Indiana, and was married to his beloved wife, Sharon, for 59 years. David served in the Indiana National Guard and spent his career as a dedicated meatcutter. After retiring, he embraced a life filled with the things he loved most. He enjoyed playing tennis with his friends—affectionately known as the RAFTERS—at Indian Springs Country Club, and he took great pride in watching his grandchildren play sports.
A lifelong musician, David began playing drums in jazz bands in Chicago and carried that passion throughout his life. He kept a drum set in his exercise room at home, where he spent many hours listening to and playing music. He especially loved the music of Glen Campbell, Andy Williams, and The Osmonds, and he and Sharon often traveled to Branson for a few days to enjoy live shows together. David also loved all things Corvette and found great joy in traveling Route 66 with Sharon during their retirement adventures. He became a Master Gardener at Linnaeus Gardens in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he volunteered to help create a community learning garden. Retirement gave him the chance to explore the open road, nurture beautiful spaces, and spend his days doing what brought him peace and happiness.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his son, Kyle Thomson, and Kyle’s wife, Deidre, and their daughter, Abigail; and his daughter, Kelli Collins, her husband, Kip, and their two sons, Konnor and Kaleb. He is also survived by his brother, William Thomson, and William’s husband, Jerry; his sister, Jonette Emmons, her husband, Rick; and his nieces and nephews and their families: Jessie Emmons, Kris Emmons, Matthew Meddles, Jenny Hibner, and Martin Meddles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Janet Thomson, and his older brother, James Thomson.
