Tiffin, David Steve's Obituary
David Steve Tiffin, lovingly known as Steve, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 78. Born on June 11, 1946, in Roswell, New Mexico, Steve led a life defined by service, dedication, and profound love for his family, country, and community.
On August 19, 1967, Steve married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Cagle, in Rogers, Arkansas. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in commitment, laughter, and unwavering support for one another over their 56 years of marriage.
Steve pursued higher education at the University of Oklahoma, earning his Bachelor’s in Health in 1974 and later, his Master of Public Health in 1988. He became a distinguished fellow and a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C), marking over 40 years of continuous service in the national physician assistant profession.
His career was deeply interwoven with military service. Steve proudly served 25 distinguished years in the United States Navy, where he earned the Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Operation Desert Storm Service Medal, and a Governor's Commendation recognizing 20 years of continuous service. On November 26, 2001, Governor Frank Keating awarded him the Oklahoma Governor's Medal, and President George H. W. Bush honored him with a Certificate of Appreciation for his dedicated service to the Armed Forces of the United States.
Despite his many accolades, Steve remained humble. He was a sailor, a veteran, and a healer. But above all, he was a family man. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his beloved wife Pat, their children, and grandchildren. He found joy in watching football of any kind, diving into episodes of The First 48 or Forensic Files, and exploring history through the History Channel.
Steve was a devoted fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and had an equally deep love for his daily cup of coffee. Among his most prized possessions was his cherished 1971 Super Beetle, Herbie, affectionately considered his “honorary fourth child.”
Steve is preceded in death by his father Alton Sidney Tiffin, his stepmother Lucille Tiffin, his beloved wife Patricia Ann Cagle Tiffin, his older brother Jim Tiffin, and his sister-in-law Jane Tiffin.
He is survived by his loving children: daughter Trisha Stromme and her husband Joel, son Toddcat Tiffin and his fiancée Maridyth Wells, and daughter Amyee Smith and her husband Kelly Smith, His Niece Cheri and her husband Tracy Nissen as well as his Niece Julie and her husband George Sanger. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler Sherbon, Ashe Daugherty, Maverick Tiffin, Beckett Tiffin, and Logan Stromme. His brother Mike Bryant and his wife Karen, as well as Clarence Cagle, the elder brother of his wife Pat, also mourn his passing.
Steve Tiffin's legacy of service, honor, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A very special and profound thank you to Scott Shackelford, close friend, chauffeur, confidant, both to Steve and Pat. His love and selflessness and keeping her company when she was in the hospital. A true friend and brother!
To anyone who wishes to attend, if you could please wear something Navy colored to honor Steve.
