David Thurston Vaught was born on December 20,1952, to Dan and Naomi Vaught of Tulsa. David is survived by his wife, Jonna of the home, five children and seven grandchildren. Daughter Tara Foster and her daughters, Averi and Allee of Edmond, OK, son Tyler and wife Ana of Laguna Beach, CA, daughter Jenna Akuma and husband Lovelace and their daughter Alyssa, son John Thompson and wife Mindy and their children, Hunter, Cooper and Emersyn of Tulsa, and son Justin Thompson and daughter Isla of Tulsa. A brother, Roger Vaught and his wife Lauren of Asheville, NC and niece, Renee Stambaugh and husband Adam and their children Addison and Aiden of Kansas City, MO area, niece Lana Veytia and husband Geoff and their children Kaine and Nolan of Kansas City, Missouri area, and many cousins. He was a gentle giant of a man who lived for and loved his family. He played and was skilled in almost every sport but truly excelled at basketball where he was selected for the Tulsa High School All City and Oklahoma High School All State basketball teams. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1971 and attended John Brown University on a basketball scholarship from 1971 to 1975. After his basketball playing years, he loved to play golf with his brother and his golf buddies. David was a very successful businessman and worked in the waste management business for over 40 years where he retired in 2013 as Sales Manager for National Waste in Tulsa.
