David "Mike" Whiten's Obituary
David Michael "Mike" Whiten, 63, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 5, 2022. David was born on December 29, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to parents Samuel Hensly Whiten and Buena Lorena (Hayhurst) Whiten.
Mike was a graduate of Tulsa Junior College, Oklahoma State University, and Langston University.
He began his career as a Civilian Voucher Examiner and later as a Civilian Accountant with the Army Corps of Engineers. He enjoyed genealogy and was an avid world traveler. Mike was a decedent of a line of Irish kings from the 800s, along with a few hundred thousand other people. Based on genetics and his work into genealogy, He had an insatiable need to travel and see the world.
Mike never met a stranger, He was a mentor and friend to many. His legacy will live on in those whose lives he impacted.
Mike is survived by a brother; Steven Whiten of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a half sister; Charlotte Jane McCann Gieseking of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents.
