Dean was an avid fisherman; his happy place was on or beside the water with a rod in his hand and his dog, Cali, at his side.
When not near the water, he loved opera, people, family, friends-old and new and any new gadget he could lay his hands on. He could become instant friends with a stranger with just a quick smile. His big heart made him a good listener and was always ready to help another in need.
Dean was predeceased by his father, Donald K. Smith; Grandparents, Jeanne King, Edward L. King, Ruth and Soloman Smith. He is survived by his mother, Ronna (Smith) Rowen and stepfather, Dr. Marshall Rowen, of Tustin, CA, and twin sister, Lauri K. Smith of Cheyenne, WY.
Dean leaves behind many military sisters and brothers, those present and past, some who gave all in service to their country. “Til we all meet on the other side,
Live on, fight the fight, take the hard road and shine., One shot, one kill.”
