Deborah Ann Freeman's Obituary
Deborah Ann (Thompson) Freeman, 68, of Tulsa, OK, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, holding her husband's hand, after a five-month battle with renal cell cancer. Debbie was born on February 15, 1955, in Hartshorne, OK to Luther and Callie Thompson (now Callie Hernandez). She grew up in Wilburton, OK, where she attended elementary school, junior high, and high school, graduating in 1973. On September 6, 1973, Debbie met the love of her life, Charles (Bud) Freeman at the A&W drive-in, and the rest was history. They married on October 5, 1973 in Hartshorne, OK. Bud and Deb went on to have three children, Kacey, Clinton, and Jason, and nothing in this world brought her more joy. She often said that, despite all the trials that come with motherhood, her pregnancies were the happiest times of her life. Debbie went on to attend nursing school at Eastern Oklahoma State College, obtaining her RN in 1981. She has since held various nursing positions in southeastern Oklahoma, before retiring in 2017 when she moved to Tulsa to be a full-time grandmother. Though Debbie enjoyed many hobbies, including puzzles, crocheting, and reading, her absolute favorite pastime was loving and spoiling her two grandbabies, Elliott and Morgan. Her daughter Kacey often not-so-jokingly stated that her parents were born to be grandparents, and Debbie definitely was. She was infinitely proud and supportive of those kiddos. Debbie is preceded in death by her father, Luther Thompson, and three brothers, Matthew Thompson, Calvin Thompson, and Luther Austin. She is survived by her husband, Charles Freeman; her mother, Callie Hernandez; her brothers, Mark and Robert Thompson; her sister Betty Tolle and husband James; her sisters Paula Thames, Nona Albert, and Loretta Reames; her daughter Kacey McConnell and husband Christopher; her sons, Clinton and Jason Freeman; her grandchildren, Elliott and Morgan McConnell; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. Deborah's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
